If i have to do clean installs on all PC’s i’m going to literally cry, Microsoft surely must offer an upgrade way. I suppose lets just sit and wait and deal with Microsoft’s Shit storm when clients mess it up. I’m sure Microsoft forget that us IT pro’s and partners get all the ear ache.

Well since users on the domain won’t get the icon and be able to click anything we should be able to come up with a Plan. We don’t have SA, but I thought that was generally an Enterprise thing, and I was under the impression Pro machines qualify regardless of being home or business owned. All of our systems came with a Pro COA, 7 and 8. Going by the upgrade offer, they should all qualify, but as noted they’re domain joined, and I wouldn’t want to in-place upgrade a bunch of office machines anyway.

I’ve always used the re-imaging rights granted by having a volume license, which lets you use that media and key on anything with a qualifying COA in my case, re-imaging with 7 Pro since they have 7 Pro and 8 Pro, they either have the same COA or are a downgrade.

If not, they still qualify for the upgrade since I could just disjoin the domain and upgrade, but that seems a stupid and unnecessary punishment. I’ve already caught him misinforming people and going back and making additional edits.

There are still questions left unanswered read the additional pages in the FAQ I linked to. These unofficial FAQs including mine are created because we have received very little direction from Microsoft. The information we have to go from is based on personal experiences, Microsoft employee social media, and news outlets.

It would be very helpful if Microsoft would officially put an end to this instead of driving us all mad. I can’t tell you how much time I’ve invested the past couple of weeks to keep my FAQ here updated and accurate. Not to mention the time spent answering questions in other topics. In business, you have different licensing agreements. That has to be nonsense, these machines come with standard windows end user licences even if they are the professional edition, my home PC and laptop are Pro and get the icon. Since I got it with SA, that will be upgraded to 10, so being able to use a master image for all machines and stay compliant would make:. All I know is that Microsoft has continued to say that the only way of taking advantage of the free upgrade is reserving through the Get Windows 10 app.
