While debates on restitution in museums, participatory approaches and open science are progressively more important in academia, the manufacturing and uses of restitution of research results remain scarcely discussed. What does restitute mean, why, how, and for whom?What is the responsibility of the different research stakeholders? To what effects is restitution practiced, is it expected or not? The motivation to cross restitution and childhood arises from the following observation: participation of children and the benefits they should be able to derive from any research make debates on the subject obsolete.
